I spent the first four years of my life in Singapore, which totally mis-set my expectations for what real life is like. In 1980 we moved to Connecticut, and after I got over the shock of not having a nanny anymore, I spent most of my childhood non-school hours wandering through the Connecticut woods and reading every science fiction or fantasy book I could get my hands on.

After high school, I deferred college and took a Gap Year. During that time I harvested pandanus and worked at the senior citizens center in Palau, was an assistant teacher and crew coach in Hong Kong, worked with the Environmental Bamboo Foundation in Bali, and waited tables at a chateau/hotel in Champagne, France.

At University of Pennsylvania I earned my degree in Mandarin Chinese, and spent eight months studying and working in Beijing. Unfortunately the pollution in China is extreme, and after developing an asthmatic condition from the coal dust I decided that it might be better if I pursued a job in a country that had safer air and water.

Upon graduation in 1998 I signed on with Trilogy, which was a hot startup at the time. Life at Trilogy was like getting a fire hose of knowledge and responsibility bolted to your mouth. There was more than we could handle, but it was a wild ride and taught me a lot. Eventually several colleagues and I left Trilogy and started an e-recruiting company. I learned a tremendous amount about people management, product development, and bootstrapping. Sadly after nine months and one round of funding the business closed its doors forever. If only we had focussed on online dating...

After the startup, I became involved with Dell as a contractor, vendor, and product manager. Dell was an eye-opener for me; I was shocked to see how chaotic and inefficient a titan of the industry could be. Dell was an outstanding learning experience for me, and repeatedly stretched my abilities, but I realized that the times I have been the most productive, happy, and passionate, have been when I was working with a tightly knit team on something we all cared about. In my experience this is found more often in small companies, and so I decided to pursue an MBA in Entrepreneurship.

While at Acton my three priorities were my personal health, Kim, and school. Kim and I got engaged over winter break, and we’ll be getting married May 2008.

My current adventure is working with NadaMoo! as COO/CFO to help take NadaMoo! nationwide. I’m also giving back to Acton by serving as Student Advisor to the amazing Class of 2008.
